Green Producer Diary
My Motivation
I was inspired to create this product because I wanted to develop a dress for the sport of padel, especially for the female audience. I identified that seamless construction combined with sustainable materials could improve comfort, fit and performance. Sustainability is important to me because the dress must reduce environmental impact, especially in materials and water consumption. I wanted to transmit the values of sustainability and innovation through the development of this dress.
My Vetrine Journey
During this time, I developed a seamless padel dress focusing on sustainability and female performance. In the beginning, I defined the idea: a seamless dress made with recycled polyamide and elastane.
I compared traditional cut-and-sew garments with seamless garments and studied materials such as recycled polyamide (including ECONYL®) and elastane. I learned that seamless technology improves comfort, movement, support and reduces waste.
One of the biggest challenges was adapting the design to the limitations of seamless knitting machines, especially color blocks and complex shapes. Another challenge was balancing compression and comfort in the bust and core areas. I also planned to include intelligent textile with sensors, but this needs more time, research and investment.
I developed three prototypes with different orange and black colour combinations and included the LUUM brand identity (logo, slogan and icon). In the end, the project connected sustainability, seamless production and female performance in padel.
Sustainability Aspect | Your Actions / Explanation |
|---|---|
Environmental | Used recycled polyamide (ECONYL®) blended with elastane. Applied seamless production to reduce cutting waste. Focused on reducing water consumption and CO₂ impact. Selected materials with recycled properties and reduced unnecessary finishes. |
Social | Developed the dress specifically for the female padel audience to improve comfort, support and fit. Worked with mentor guidance and aligned the development with company standards such as GOTS, Oeko-Tex Standard 100, ISO9001 and ISO14001. |
Financial | Balanced sustainability with economic viability. Reduced prototypes and sampling waste. Optimized material use through seamless construction. Developed a durable product suitable for long-term use. |
A Message to Consumers
This product represents my commitment, research and belief in sustainability. Every decision was made to connect performance, innovation and environmental responsibility. The LUUM dress transmits energy, sustainability and brand identity. By supporting this product, you support a sustainable future in sportswear.
A Message to Future Learners
To future participants i would say to believe in their project from the beginning until the end. To think outside the box and stay committed to their own identity and sustainability values. Sustainable fashion needs research, compromise and patience. Trust in the process.

supply chain map
Tier 4Raw material
Tier 4: Recycled Polyamide (ECONYL®) – produced from fishing nets, textile scraps, and industrial plastic waste.
Elastane (Spandex/Lycra®) – raw fiber production (supplier not specified).
Tier 3Material processing
Tier 3: Yarn preparation / spinning – preparation of polyamide and elastane yarns suitable for seamless knitting.
Tier 2Component manufacturing
Tier 2: Circular seamless knitting – whole-garment construction with integrated support and ventilation zones.
Prototype assembly: adjustments for fit, compression, and female body comfort.
Logo, icon, and branding integration during garment preparation.
Tier 1Final assembly
Tier 1: Clothius – final assembly, finishing, quality control, and preparation of the prototypes for presentation.
Application of certifications and sustainability verification (GRS, Oeko-Tex, GOTS, ISO9001/14001).
Environmental & Social Impact
Recyclable: Partially (polyamide-elastane blends are difficult to recycle; can be included in take-back programs in the future)
Microplastics: Minimal (recycled yarns reduce microplastic pollution compared to virgin nylon; washing guidelines reduce fiber shedding)
Certifications: GRS (Global Recycled Standard), Oeko-Tex Standard 100, GOTS, ISO9001, ISO14001
Material Source: Recycled polyamide (ECONYL®) from fishing nets, textile scraps, and industrial plastic waste
