Green Producer Diary
My Motivation
I was inspired to create this product by the idea of reducing overconsumption in fashion through versatility. I wanted to design a garment that could be worn in different ways, extending its lifespan and value. Sustainability is important to me because fashion has a strong environmental impact, and I believe design can help change that. By creating adaptable and long-lasting pieces, we can encourage more conscious consumption habits.
My Vetrine Journey
Over the past months, I developed the concept of a reversible and transformable jacket focused on versatility and durability. I started with research on sustainable fashion and transformable garments, which helped define my design direction. I then explored different materials and tested combinations of fleece and quilted fabric. One of the biggest challenges was balancing comfort and structure while ensuring the garment worked in both reversible configurations. Through prototyping and testing, I adjusted proportions and construction details. This process helped me better understand how design, materials, and sustainability are interconnected.
Sustainability Aspect | Your Actions / Explanation |
|---|---|
Environmental | I focused on extending the garment’s lifespan through reversibility and transformability, reducing the need for multiple pieces. I also considered durability and responsible material choices to minimize environmental impact. |
Social | The project promotes awareness of conscious consumption and encourages users to value fewer, more versatile garments. It also reflects the importance of transparency and informed choices in fashion. |
Financial | By using accessible materials like fleece and quilted fabric, the design remains realistic and potentially affordable. The multifunctionality of the piece also increases its value for the consumer, reducing the need for additional purchases. |
A Message to Consumers
This project shows that one garment can have multiple lives. By choosing versatile and durable pieces, we can reduce waste and change the way we consume fashion. Small choices can create a big impact over time.
A Message to Future Learners
Start simple and focus on learning through experimentation. Sustainability is not only about materials but also about design decisions and long-term thinking. Don’t be afraid to test, fail, and improve that is part of the process.
