Green Producer Diary
My Motivation
I am a new creator and i’ve always cared about living sustainably, but, as i had never before gone through the process of making a product from scratch to sell it, it seemed like introducing sustainable materials would cost me much more than i could afford. I was in deep shock and anger when i came to the realization that i could still, easily, make a profit and be sustainable. So what inspires me is my own anger of seeing how something could be harmless towards the environment so easily and simultaneously how small creators as well as big companies would choose to harm the environment for additional profit to what they already have.
My Vetrine Journey
The first thing i had to do was come up with an idea that represented me. I decided to choose to make jesus as a pokomon card because i found it to be a funny and non disrespectful way through which i can talk about something serious through the medium of comedy. Then i had to buy the sustainable t-shirts and then print onto them, the design that i had made.I decided to use the method of screen printing, as i found it to be particularly interesting and carrying a lot of history that i got to learn. And then, i made the packaging which i printed.

Social | I got the help of a local screen printing store where they tought me the basics of screen printing through a very illuminating seminar and then booked their space for specific hours for 4 days (one every week for a month). The materials i used there were already focused on sustainability. I reused the screenprinting frames they already had, reused old paints and found solutions to standardized practices for screen printing companies that were not available to us (i.e. putting a piece of cardboard and body sensitive glue to stabilise the shirts that had many layers of color) |
Financial | The product has a very long lifespan and although compared to a zara tshirt, the production cost of which might be less than 3 euros, each tshirt cost me roughly 6 euros to make (and if we include tha packaging 10) which still leaves me some room for profit. |
A Message to Consumers
I would like them to read the stats cause i think i really did a good job on making it funny…. The message is religion is bullshit but no-one has to be offensive about anything! I double checked by showing my religious Greek relatives!
A Message to Future Learners
Its not that difficult. You can even buy vintage thrift store clothes and remake them for a really low price or use one of the many methods of printing that are cheap, sustainable and fun. (E.g. lino cut or .. screen printing). If theres something you enjoy making , you can make it sustainably. If you put a lot of care in what you do, people will buy it.
